Books Read in November

This is a list of the books that I read in November, broken up into Picture Books, Middle Grade Books, and Young Adult Books. I didn't complete any adult titles this month (though I started and shelved a couple), but I did read a bunch of lovely picture books (reviews still forthcoming of several titles). I'm at 206 books read for the year, but that includes 50 picture books, so it doesn't look like I'll reach my goal of 200 non picture book titles. But I have read some great stuff!

OMG: You are impressive. I don't know how you do it.

I am just amazed at how much you read. You're so impressive!

I just wanted to share with you that the discussion here about your favorite Melendy and classic middle grade fiction has been a treasure for me. My kids adored the Penderwicks (and the sequel), but I'd never heard of the Melendy family or The Saturdays.

Since reading about it here, we're roaring through the Melendy books on CD. Can you believe my 9, 7 and 4 year olds don't want to get out of the car? They ask me to drive around the block so they can hear more! It is hard to find a book a 9 year old boy and a 4 year old girl both enjoy. I thank you immensely for the time and effort you put into this blog!

Kim and Janssen, I really can't accept praise for doing something that I love to do. If I could find the time, I would read more books than I do. I have SO MANY on my shelves, unread, waiting for me. I know that you know what it's like.

And Susan, that is SO great. I'm thrilled that your kids are enjoying the Melendy family so much. You have truly made my day. You might try Gone-Away Lake and the sequel, too (by the same author), if they still want more after you've listened to the Melendy books. It's a good thing gas prices are down...

I have read only one short book this month, The Savage,by David Almond, illustrated by Dave Mckean. A very short book with stunning caligraphic pictures and words that sing on the page.
I read slowly, but not usually this slowly, but have been tangled up with writing words this month.
Still I am looking for a book to really loose myself in.

It's not the quantity but the quality, Gingercats, as I'm sure you know. Personally, I get cranky if more than a couple of days goes by and I don't get any reading done. But I don't write much outside of the blog, so that's easier for me.

Thanks for stopping by!
