Several awards and short lists worth mentioning came out today.
- As reported at Fuse #8 and Big A little a (among others), the shortlists for the Quills were announced. But if you want to have a laugh, check out Susan Beth Pfeffer's response (on her new blog) to the nomination of Life As We Knew It. I do agree with Kelly and Betsy that this year's list has a better crop of titles. After all, I've been pretty obsessive about LAWKI.
- The 2007 Boston Globe Horn Book Magazine Awards were also announced. Special kudos to Loree Griffin Burns for her honor for Tracking Trash: Flotsam, Jetsam, and the Science of Ocean Motion. Loree's response is pretty much speechlessness.
- And, via Kids Lit, "VOYA offers a list of its Perfect Tens, books that scored top marks for both quality and popularity." It's a highly varied collection. Tasha has the list, which includes two of her favorites.
