Sad News
September 07, 2007
I just learned from Kids Lit that Madeleine L'Engle (November 29, 1918 – September 6, 2007) died this week. She was 88, and died at her home in Connecticut.
Madeleine L'Engle's books showed generations of children the magic of stories. I read all of her children's books over and over again. I listened to A Wrinkle In Time not too long ago, and found that it still had the power to make me cry. I think that Vicky Austin has taken up permanent residence in a little corner of my brain. I often think of her grandfather's converted-stable home.
Tasha eloquently wrote what I also feel: "Our planet just tilted a little and hole has been left behind." So sad.
